On 4 March, Professor Antonios Liapis presented AI-PowerED at the ACT-AI Academy plenary meeting in Malta, marking the beginning of a promising new partnership between the two projects.

The meeting offered more than an opportunity to introduce AI-PowerED. It also created space for a valuable exchange with the ACT-AI project, whose work closely aligns with our own. While ACT-AI focuses on school education, supporting teachers, student-teachers, and school leaders, AI-PowerED addresses higher education through tools, guidance, and resources designed for universities, educators, and students.

What makes this connection especially valuable is the shared perspective behind both projects. In both cases, AI is approached not as an end in itself, but as something that should be used thoughtfully, ethically, and in ways that genuinely respond to educational needs. That common understanding creates a strong foundation for collaboration.

The discussions in Malta highlighted how much the two projects can learn from one another. By connecting school and higher education, this emerging partnership can encourage exchange across sectors, broaden the reach of both initiatives, and support a more connected conversation around AI literacy and responsible use in education.

Professor Liapis’ participation in Malta was therefore more than a presentation of AI-PowerED. It marked the beginning of a collaboration built on shared values, strong synergy, and a common commitment to supporting educators in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

We are very pleased to see this partnership taking shape and look forward to the next steps.
